Agree. Mental health ought to be a serious issue and not a punch line for idiot lawyers and bean-counters.

How we treat our mentally ill population speaks volumes about our values as a society - or lack thereof. If you've ever known anyone with a mental disorder (I have) you'd realize just how sad and terrible of a problem it is. Stigmatizing people and kicking them onto the street is hardly the right answer (unless you're one of the aforementioned lawyers, politicians or bean-counters).

These people need help, a sense of purpose and a way to live meaningful lives. It needn't be terribly expensive - just humane.
