I had a seller that was in your shoes many years ago. It was an E36 M3 that was priced great but not a screaming deal. I gave them my deposit and they gave me their word. As I was heading out to pick it up I get a call and they wanted me to either cough up another 3k or they would sell it to another fellow who offered them more. I said no thanks and to please return my deposit but hoped they would do the right thing. In the end they did as they did not want to sell their integrity for a few thousand bucks.
I applaud you for honoring your word.
