At best, a Durametric scan may indicate a failing IMSB. Bring the engine up to operating temperature. Next, check the camshaft deviations. They should be rock solid steady. If they wobble, this could be an indication that the IMSB is failing.
The size of the camshaft deviation is an indication something else is going on. For example, they could change over time as the variocam pads wear. Anything between +6 and -6 is within factory limits.
Again, its the second to second changes in camshaft deviation values that may indicate a IMSB problem not how large or small they are.
