I was under the impression that all the 930 axles had caps, though I suppose the -'77 axles might not. I have (at least) two sets of 930 trailing arms, one of which is dated '86, and I have another set from a '79 on the way. My axles (also on the way) have caps; supposedly, they are also from a '79.

Am I misremembering this, or did the early 930 flanges have a shorter set of splines -- not recommended for the 915? I'd have to check my notes...

With respect to the flanges with the part number I posted, can anyone else verify the part number? I was pretty sure that part number is for the later flanges (#2 in the diagram) -- Jerry, are you sure those are actually #1? The mating surface does look like #1, what with that stepped ridge.
