Italian made stuff is quite good too.

My last renovation job I went for American Standard. I had the kitchen, bathroom, showers with all the same model of fitting. Also it seemed best bang for the buck. It's been OK so far. The sales guy warned me they make they own mixer cartridges and everyone else buys European made ones, or if they are being cheap, Asian made ones.

The tap is really just a housing for the cartridge. It's the cartridge that does everything.
