I know exactly what you are talking about. Your plumber must have over tighten them a little bit too much. The trick is to hand tighten, crank it down a little more, that's it. No more. it would leak. I know lots of guys over tighten them thinking the tighter it goes, the better it seals. Not true. Read the instructions. There's brass sleeve that slips over the valve shaft. this sleeve is for holding down the trim ring. This brass sleeve determines how eight the knob should feel. The tighter you crank it down by hand, the tighter the on/off knob feels. I have had one valve go bad on me, the thread was bad, so the new one was in the mail in a couple days. Newport's design and finish is a bit better IMO. I went with Hansgrohe's Axor line in my own home, that should tell you something. When I grow up, I will have KWC(Swiss, oh yeah, you pay for it)through out my house.
