Agreed. I wonder if Mrs. Kyle authenticated that or not. I don't know any gun owners who would point a firearm as a joke - but you never know. Perhaps someone like Kyle, a multiple tour sniper, was overly confident and actually pulled that ill advised stunt off.
As for the movie we came away liking it but not in a way that would draw me back to watch it again. I agree with how Cooper explains it - it's not a war movie but instead a character study. For the most part Kyle was portrayed as a person who did not believe in showing emotion - very little in the way of facial expressions that had meaning (except for a couple key scenes). Not normal for a Hollywood movie so IMO the acting was very dry. Not sure I would call it an Oscar performance on any level.
