I do have to say, I experienced a bit of the AS phenomenon this weekend. I had taken a few spoons over to Oak Tree Gun Club, just 10 minutes down the road from the house (we've done some Pelican get togethers there before), for some sighting in and zeroing.
Now, it's not usually crowded on the rifle range, but can get busy with skeet and trap. This was Saturday around noon, and I walked up the path to the range. They rent AR's and various other configurations of semi-auto military style weapons. There must have been 10-12 groups of 18-25 y.o. waiting to try their sniper skills on the range. The wait was 2-3 hours for an open spot. I ended up schlepping my stuff a half hour to Piru just to get some range time.
