Thank you Jeff. I found a smokeless round that works really well. It's not breaking any sound barriers, but I knocked down 7 out of 10 Rams at 200 meters last Sunday.
1. Necking down 38-55 brass to 32-40 (no 32-40 available)
2. 173gr gas-check lead flat point (cast by a friend) .323 diam
3. 13.6gr IMR 4227 (9gr Trail Boss worked OK too, but the 4227 was much better).
The girl was manufactured in 1901, so I assume it's still a "flat spring"??? I couldn't tell you
