She says people talked about new things of the future, but nobody really got how development of technology would impact and be integrated into everyday life. Things like organ transplants were considered to be a couple of hundred years away. We have no clue.

The reality is this. If you told somebody in the 1980s that within 20 years everybody would be carrying around small computers in their pockets, you would have been laughed at.
