People do irrational things all the time. You see it all the time, even here. It's clearly irrational, for example, for a grown adult to post 25+ times a day on a car part seller's website, post day in and day out trying to "win teh Internets," get banned but be so desperate and lacking in control to have to come up with fake names, etc. - all for nothing. It's completely irrational.
Yet, some people do it, by choice.

I think you're equating making a stupid choice with having no choice. Big difference, IMO.
