We got PS2 for our 6 year old son and of course I also got GT3. Man it is very hard to stay on the track. I haven't even started to play with all the advanced settings but have found that running arcade mode, automatic, drift mode works the best. For steering I stay away from the joystick and use the directional keys on the left.
Pick a car and track and stay with it. Follow the advanced cars to learn the tricks. I also like the free mode where after each lap it projects a ghost of your best previously driven lap.
This is our first in home video game since pong - I am totally serious! Man this stuff is unbelieveable - I laugh when the controller rumbles when I get off the track! Simple minds are easily entertained.
