A cluttered workbench is just a sign of a project (or many) in progress. I worry about low-mileage workbenches.
OTOH, a cluttered workbench/area in a spacious workshop is inexcusable - just add more workbenches and apportion each more stuff, or add more storage space/rooms.
The ideal is to have a dedicated workspace for each project, no matter how small or inconsequential. A Canepa-like space would be fine with me.
