I was under the impression that the heavier bullets (62-77gr.) prefer a tighter twist, i.e. 1:8 or 1:7. But there are some who would say I don't know very much about these things.

Nice Rugers. I've recently climbed back on the bolt-action bandwagon--by way of shooting at an Appleseed with a Savage MkII. Tough work on the transition stages. I've started looking at Ruger's Gunsite Scout in .308. Seems like a pretty darned solid rifle for 900 clams. And it even comes in a left-handed version!
