Good Morning folks.
Good Pepper, good girl.
The internet speeds of today are amazing. We have a client that wants us to fly a project that was done by some other company and they did not like the final product. The best way to show us what they want and don't want is to show us the final product as delivered by the other company.
Here at work we obviously have a business account with a local cable company for internet access. They have the speed restricted. The same company provides my home internet but the package I am on is FAST.
The customer's project file is a zip file that is 8.1 GB. We tried to download here at work and after an hour it timed out and failed to download.
Last night at home I downloaded 8.1 GB in 30 minutes. It takes 10 minutes to copy that file to the thumb drive at USB 2.0 speeds. That just blows me away, 8 gig in 30 minutes is screaming fast.
I remember when we finally got dial all the way up to 56K that one MB took 12 minutes and we all thought that was fast. It was compared to the 300 baud modem I started with.
It would take 67.5 days to download 8.1 GB at 56K. Of course I did not have a hard drive big enough to hold 8 gig for a good many years later. Now I have a cell phone with 64 gig. That just blows me away.
