When I was younger, I could get an engine out of a beetle in very little time, with a floor jack, a bottle jack and a skateboard as an engine dolly. 4 bolts, a couple electrical connections, fuel line, and you're good to go

And valve adjustments are a piece of cake - heck the valve covers aren't even bolted on, you just need a screwdriver to pop the wire clip off. You gotta love the simplicity of non-injected beetles.
