Baz,
Acuvue 1 Day and Acuvue 1 Day Moist are single day lenses. Acvue Oasys is a 2 week disposable so changing to Oasys is not a direct transfer. You'd need to get back to using a case, solutions and cleaning/changing same. Base curves are not the same between the two either.
Oxygen permeability is one variable between lens materials with Night & Day being a silicone hydrogel with much higher permeability which allows over night
wear. While FDA approved for up to 30 days wear it is still a good idea to remove them weekly and clean them. I recommend using a hydrogen peroxide based system for this regimen.
CooperVision has recently come out with a single day silicone hydrogel, Clariti, which would give you the single use lens you currently use and the higher oxygen permeability benefits of the Night & Day lens. There are other similar lenses from other manufacturers who will likely have a single day lens at some point too.
Contact lens wear does carry an increased risk of eye infection no matter what kind of lens is chosen. Some studies have found a 10 fold increase over no lens wear even with proper care.
Discuss this with your eye care provider to make the best choice for your vision and eye health.
