"PS"....In the mid to late '70's a "Public Service" (state) employee could order a set of license plates from the California DMV for their personal car. After the "PS" designation the plate set would be given a number, in accordance with how many issued. Apparently, back in the day working for the government was still something to be proud of in California. You even got Governor Ronald Reagan's signature on your plate envelope.
