Project for the week is to replace the seat skin on the passenger seat (30 year old leather on my Targa). I have the seat out and I have the new seat skin kit.

Question 1) I assume that I need to remove the seat back from the seat base. There are 2 retaining rings at each end of a rod which looks like it goes the width of the seat (at the base of the seat back). Do I need to take that rod out (and those retaining rings) to remove the back from the base? There are two large bolts on each side which I have already removed.

Question 2) Do I need to remove all of the gear from the bottom of the seat base? This would be the 2 tracks, electrics, base frame, etc.
