Most Vietnam vets - including my father - agree that Platoon is the film that pretty much nailed the overall experience. It's the definitive Vietnam movie.
Vietnam in HD was a very good documentary but isn't nearly as moving as Platoon or We Were Soldiers.
Apocalypse Now was always a bit silly IMO and you either love or hate Full Metal Jacket.
