If the bison was eaten and otherwise used for more than a mount on the wall that is at least something. The Cougar no excuse for that. Just narcissistic.
^^^ This. I regret that I was too blunt with my initial comments about Chandler, but it really irks me to see examples of 'trophy hunters' destroying the most magnificent possible creatures when they should be doing their best to conserve them and aid in their well being.

There are deer hunters who follow the rules, hunt responsibly, ask landowners for permission to hunt, in order to put meat on their family's tables. It's not my thing, but I have to respect that these guys are properly observing society's norms.

However, to kill the most fantastic creature to be found, just to boast? There is no justification for this on any level. To me it's like going into the Louvre in order to slash the Mona Lisa. Such corrupt self-absorption deserves no respect from anyone. It's an obscenity.

On the other hand, somehow in concert with yazhound's remarks above, I believe that trophy hunters might be allowed, but uniquely if they hunt stark naked, armed with only a sharp stick. Such a guy could boast if he brought down a cougar, but he would be obliged to invite everyone to the barbeque.
