If dreams are the result of demyelinated axons and/or dendrites, then yes anticholesterols could be the direct cause.

However, since the synthetic anticholesterols (statins) suppress the production of cholsterol by the liver, it is conceivable that that suppressive effect may also suppress the production of some unknown antineurotoxins.

From whay I've read, liver function is panning out to be as mysterious as brain function. Maybe they are the same organ connected by enzymes, hormones and other whatnots.

There appears to be a growing body of evidence that statins produce memory impairment, too.
