Have read the Pelican directions in Wayne's 101 Projects book and the LN instructions on their web site and many of these posts, but have read conflicting information if cams need to be locked before removing the IMS bearing when using the Pelican kit on a 5 chain motor.

In the instructions in Wayne's book for the Pelican kit there is no mention of locking the cams on the 5 chain motor with a locking tool - is this necessary or not? If cams should be locked please explain the procedure how is it done since the motor must be rotated to line up the correct position for the set screws, which would leave it off TDC. Thanks
Couple of critical points: Forget about any instructions other than LN Engineering. Far too many people have tried other methods and gotten into dire trouble as the direct result. I would also forget about any replacement bearing other than LN's as well. When you cheap out on this refit, you get exactly what you paid for......
