I find dreams to be fascinating and have done some research on them. I do dream many vivid dreams, and have had a couple of lucid dreams - where you know you are dreaming, and you start to manipulate / control the outcome of the dream.
Dreams are often your mind's way of processing stuff that remains unresolved. Sometimes dreams make sense, but often they are just a jumble of memories strung together in your mind's attempt to make sense of things, with some randomness thrown in. Keeping a pad and pen by your bedside, and recording your dream as soon as you wake from that dream is the best way to remember the events of your dream -- otherwise, in most cases, your dream can vanish from your memory.
Some people dream in vivid colors, while others dream in black and white, or very muted colors. See if you can recall colors in your dream. If so, I believe that indicates that you have more of a creative side...

Your mind has no way of distinguishing between your dream world and your real waking world. This is why if you have a happy dream, you wake up happy, or if you have a sad dream, you wake up sad. You have to consciously make an effort to compartmentalize your dream / real states. Men have an easier time doing this than women do.

This is a very typical dream -- lots of people have this dream especially when there is a project / task which is past due or the due date is real soon, and it is likely the project will be delayed. Often in this dream, the dreamer is wearing only underwear or is naked -- that indicates that in real life, the person feels unprepared for the task at hand. I have had that type of dream often. I guess I have a lot of tasks/issues that need resolution!
The most disturbing dream that I have had was that I was killed in a car accident. I was dead, and with God, and could see my wife through a window. All I desired to do was to let her know that I am ok - and in heaven. This was a very, very powerful dream for me.
When I was a child, I had one of those monkey dolls with cymbals that (was on Close Encounters movie). In the stop-action Christmas special "The Little Drummer Boy," there was a scene where the man draws a smiley face on the little drummer boy so he could perform. Well, in a dream when I was a child, I was at my sister's Godparents home in Connecticut. We were up in their bedroom, and I'm sitting on the bed with a blue sheet onit. I have this Drummer Boy doll that works just like the Cymbal clapping monkey. He has the smile painted on his face. So I'm holding this doll, and all of a sudden, his eyebrows turn angry, and his fake smile disappears. He grabs me, and starts rolling me over on the bed. Woke me up in a cold sweat. I remember that dream like it was this morning - but that dream was some 40 years ago!
Soon after 9-11, I dreamt that I was in the second building that got hit and saw the first plane hit the other building. In my dream, I was in a conference room at the same height as where the first plane hit the other building. I saw the nose of the plane impact the building, and the debris fly all over as the explosion engulfed the building. I felt the building I was in shaking from the impact. That terrorist attack shook me to my foundations - I never thought such an attack would ever occur so close to me -- my sense of safety was pulled out from under me.
