Got an off line reply from Wayne -"Hi there. If the set screws are installed properly, they will lock the chain and the cams together. You do not need to lock the cams with the tool, but I do recommend that you remove the green plugs and check the cam timing when the procedure is done, "just in case". It's unlikely that a 5-chain motor will skip a tooth during this procedure, but if it were my car, I would check just to make sure".
