That is one nice bull (male) mahi your dad caught, and they are delicious.
They are schooling fish. So the tip is that if you hook one and leave it in the water the rest of the clan will stick around. I have never been able to do this myself. Once one is on the line I like to get into the boat.
But friends have left the first mahi in the water. Then start casting with light tackle and hook up to others in the group. Mahi being quite acrobatic fish this can be quite the show with a couple hooked up at a time on light tackle
