Not sure exactly how it works in a legal sense, but seems to me if a person who works in the legal system (officer of the court) signs a statement and swears it to be the truth....especially in a situation like this where a man's freedom (life essentially) is in question.....they should be held accountable for it - to whatever extent the law requires.
Those who deal in the justice system should be help to a higher standard than the public. Or else how are they to be trusted?
