I was once accosted by the police while walking in Vancouver at about 3 in the afternoon. I was walking in a pretty shady area, heading to my brothers 4 blocks away. I came to an intersection, and when I stepped off the curb all of a sudded three cop cars came out of nowhere and literally hit each other coming to a stop with me trapped in the triangle formed by their front bumpers. 6 doors swung open and 6 handguns popped out pointed at me (in Canada the mere fact that they drew their weapons is remarkable). They all began screaming at me, then one reached over and literally pulled my off my feet and over the hood of the car, pinned me down knee in my back. They searched me none to gently, all the while screaming etc. to stay down. So down I stayed (momma didn't raise no idjut). So as the dust settles and the radio calls begin, it became evident that they were responding to a call of a guy that very closely fit my description (down to the clothing I was wearing, long hair, beard etc.) walking in public waving a hand gun.
Given that, I had no issue with their behaviour and told them so, possibly armed I would react pretty strongly as well. HOWEVER, at that point they decided to run my name, search my pockets and tear up my cigarette pack hoping to find a joint that they could then arrest me for. I had already said I had no issue with them taking me down if they thought I was armed, and yet these a55holes feel a need to find something on me to justify their actions. And then packed up like they were irrated with me, no appology no nothing.
The initial behaviour was warranted in this case, however their follow on actions showed them to be power hungry egotistical pricks who could not admit they had made an error.
