I seriously went to a Pep Boys here a few years ago, and they don't sell ice scrapers, you have to buy them in places like Big Bear where they actually get snow.

Hugh, the simple fix is to do the same thing the top professional highway departments across the nation use. Salt. They spread in on the roads and make it easier to drive on. That mean salt must be safe to use on cars so just sprinkle salt on your windshield. when the ice melts just hit the wipers and it all goes away!
