The first PC I purchased (won't count the Commodore 64) was a Toshiba 1200 HD. I paid extra for the 10MB hard drive. I also installed a combo card with a 1200 baud modem and 1MB of RAM, giving the laptop 2MB of RAM. I could not wait for the back-lit LCD screen.
I think I paid $2K for that, including Lotus 1-2-3. I think GE used "Office Writer". I could have had a free spreadsheet program, but 123 was better.
I still have it and it boots. The issue is the screen cracked at some point.
