I picked up the parts from Mance Plating today. Not super happy with the appearance but I may have had unrealistic expectations.
The guy at Mance (his name slips my mind right now) said that the dichromate that makes it yellow is a coating on top of the cadmium plating and can be scratched off. He said some folks put a clear coat on it to protect the dichromate. Not sure if I buy that.
Anyway, here are a couple pictures....
Some of these bits will be visible so I may see what I can to to improve their look. But ultimately I got them plated for the protection and wouldn't have expected them to stay pretty for long since this will be a daily driver.
Next time I need plating done, I'll go back to East Liberty Electroplating for yellow zinc.
