When I did mine, I simply sued a wax/grease remover ( sold at auto parts stores and carefully wiped all the nooks and crannies. It dries almost immediately. Taping off the wheels was the hardest part, but a thin automotive pinstriping tape bends nicely and then I followed with a wider tape. They came out perfect. Good luck - fun project with an awesome finish.
