I totally agree with this after seeing the pans and longitudinals on the car. Having dealt with rust issues on these cars, and seeing what appears to be copious amounts of roof coating spread around under the car, I would say that if you start probing this car you'll find way more damage than $10k would even begin to address.
My original statement about appraising what the car needs to do a proper respray has now been negated by the owners desire to sell the car. Doing anything to this car is going to result in major $$$$'s and is a money pit waiting to happen. My opinion thank you.
If selling the car is the chosen direction, then clean it up and make a few bucks "as is". It is not a gold mine for the owner, and could be far worse with too much investigation.
