They are notorious for the heat/cold blend motor breaking which means you get either all cold or all hot, whichever end of the sweep it broke. The part that activates the servo is plastic. The replacement unit is much better(as is in many cases).
The problem is that you have to remove just about the entire dash to get to the unit. We had that repaired under warranty but the estimate was $1200.00.

We have the same car/year except in Pontiac Torrent trim.
It was the wife's, I had checked the car and told her what price to offer, but was pissed she bought the extended warranty. Then we had the exact same the heat/cold blend motor issue just 300KM before the expiry, so I had to eat my words.
What a poop box, hard on expensive wheel bearings and now our wiring is getting sketchy as well. The blower keeps quitting, dealer wants $800 to replace both fuse panels using "aftermarket" panels. We bought it to support "North American workers", found out afterwords that over half the car, including the engine and tranny, was made in China.
Now it's my winter beater, I'll drive the VW bug and 914 in the summer.
When it dies I'm buying an older Pickup.
Wife needed a new A to B car for work, I couldn't believe it when she bought a bare bones Hyundai Accent. I mean this car has nothing on it, not a single option, 6 speed manual, not even air. The only extras was snow tires on rims and Weathertech mats.
When I asked her why when we could afford a "better" car, she said "It's $13K taxes and plates all in, cash deal, ". Then I said "not even air??" Her reply "I drove an old VW bug for years and it's Canada, I'll live. I want no payments with nothing to break more than I want a fancy car. I wanted to keep my money".
