timecert

Ok, this doesn't have to do with the motor (and due to my current vacation trip planned to take place in two weeks, i won't have the cash for a month or two to play with the motor), but i need motor rebuilding caliber advice for the trans. I needed to buy a timecert kit to repair the threads of the detent bolt. My question is should i do this with simple hand tools or go out of my way to have a buddy of mine help me out since he has a man sized drill press? The picture given with the kit describes the ease of using it with hand tools but wouldn't there be a risk of not getting it straight?
