Doubtful. There had to be some kind of high amp draw for it to do that. In a car that is having no issues you can remove the fuses and use cotter pins and nothing will happen.
I would replace the fuse box and test each circuit before installing any fuses. Power to ground and amp draws are going to be your friends if you want to replace it yourself
