I have never been arrested, though on a couple occasions I would have been had they had better radio coordination and better knowledge of the land. One I met a cop while I was accelerating past 110 on a lightly trafficked 4 lane and he caught the guy chasing me. I took the exit 1/2 mile up the road which led to an intersection where I could go upstate, to another state or home. The other I was in a four wheel drift on an off ramp when the po po happened to come out of the gas station. I was gone before he had his car started.
Joe, any word from LR on the issue?

Back in the bad old days of the national 55 MPH limit running 70 was crazy fast and could win you a set of bracelets and night at the gray-bar motel. I knew a guy in the SCCA that "won" that honor in Mississippi on a road trip. I was hauling through that same area at night on a trip from Alabama to Oklahoma. It was summertime and in an un-air-conditioned 914 night time driving was the smart choice. I passed a few reflections that was down in the median area of the interstate. I had just passed a long string of cars and he must have had to wait for all those cars to go past. I never did for sure see any lights but I figured it would be a perfect time to pull off the road at the very handy exit in front of me. I pulled into a gas station and was pumping 18 gallons into the tank and I saw a cop running hot down the highway. I figured it would be a good time to have a meal so I stayed for a meal at the greasy spoon. I never did see any more lights for the rest of the trip.
Now when I cruise past a state trouper at the legal speed limit of 75 I have the instinct to slow down but I just smile!
