I'm in the middle part of NC, so the trip would probably take over 5 hrs to get there. I've not done a road trip yet, and would hate to miss one you good folks have recommended that's right in my backyard.
Has anyone made the trip and could recommend a nice place to stay?
It's kinda funny, I've lived in NC all my life, and around here you are either a mountain person or a beach person....we hit the beach every few weekends year-round so I know nothing about our mountains
