Good advice.
I'm a fat guy now and my old v brakes sing and have limited use when I pick up the pace. Whenever I'd ridden a friend bike with disc brakes and am so impressed with the brakes.
I agree the Trek is a solid bike for most uses, assuming the drivetrain is useable.
