I just don't like the raw sound of straight pipes. Exhaust sound managed by an exhaust system is what I like. I had a friend with a little Austin Healey sports car years ago who put a cut out on his exhaust. It sounded really crappy and his gas mileage went into the toilet with the cut out opened.
