As I understand it that's not the case with the 2.7 CIS. I suppose if you wanted to shave 8lbs off you could fab a pipe straight out where the muffler joins ...

When I put a more stockish exhaust back on my '88 it brought back a noticeable amount of low end torque. It was preferable that way around town.
