You could replace the cylinder head studs with the P&C installed. But why would like to leave the P&C in situ? You are not saving anything by leaving them there while you removed & replaced the old cylinder head studs. The cam tower/s and cylinder heads have to be removed so what would be the advantage of leaving the P&C's? I don't find any advantage of leaving the P&C while you work on the studs replacements. A shop might do it to save time in getting everything back together. But I doubt it.
