Maybe it's my ADD, but I couldn't get through the article above. Sob stories.
Planning to go to college is something most teens don't do. Most of them have never had a job prior to enrollment either. Gimme, gimme, gimme.
It's the parents failure to teach financial responsibility before the kid enrolls.
I screwed up in the beginning, and it ripped my wallet clean of every dime I earned prior. Luckily, I was only footing half the bill for that party.
Barriers to re-entry, it's cumbersome. Transferring transcripts, HS diploma, testing, etc..., total PITA. Of all the hoops, those were the worst. I went back at age 31, with 28 hours credit, by the time I had 56 hours, the school awarded an academic scholarship. More hoops came, blocks to register for classes, advising, transferring transcripts from summer school, applications for grants, scholarships, etc...
The course work was the easiest part of it.
