The amounts "required" in this thread are staggering. You'd think $1,000,000 would be enough. Maybe it was 20 years ago.

I think we would be fine living largely on the interest from $1,000,000 come retirement time. Paid off cars, paid off house (by then), pretty cheap lifestyle. I could easily see us downsizing in house as well. Of course the goal is more, but we live a pretty simple life.
