Nope they are leather, I have the leather samples (pics posted above) and they are definitely leather. I don't know where you are looking as all the links I posted were leather. Anyway here they are on their website:

There are a few of us on here who ordered the samples on eBay for $2 and they arrived very quickly. How are you ordering them?
I have just ordered the covers and will report back in a few weeks when they arrive.
