I presume that the $30 chip is just using a copy of someone else's mappings but maybe not.
Let's face it the chips are cheap to purchase and easy to program if you have the correct kit, just like burning a cd.
Either way for $30 it's worth a look.
I know more than enough about engines to tell if it's harming it.
Also will probably have the car dyno'd with both chips to see if there is any real difference.
