We just picked up a new subaru legacy (our 3rd Legacy). Nicely equipped within your budget & AWD.
Only drawback is the CVT trans, but I'm warming up to it. It 'quasi-simulates' a normal auto trans.
Definitely NOT a 'performance' sedan - more of a comfortable practical commuter.
