I was supposed to go out for the ceremony but my plans were derailed...
I was very fortunate to have been selected to fly 60B's right as the aircraft started to get into the fleet. I was a plank owner in the first 60B squadron and also flew the first H-60B, old Double Nuts, when I went through the FRS.
The 60B is gone but the 60R and 60S live on. I actually helped managed the development, test and procurement of both aircraft at one time in their early stages.
Great stuff and a lot of fun. The first picture below is me about to fire a Penguin Missile in the test range of Roosevelt Roads. We later shot the first warhead-equipped version at the target ship.
