My wife is about a month into her new Yokohama Ascends. Since she also drives a Lexus RX I called her for a review, asking particularly about road/tread noise.
She says they're quiet - certainly quieter than the Michelin Latitude Tours they replaced. In the month the tires have been on the car she's experienced plenty of dry, wet and snowy road conditions in a mix of in-town, highway and mountain driving. She reports that they have performed well in all conditions. Now, understand that she drives like the grandmother she is and is as easy on her car and its equipment as she can reasonably be. Still, her part time job takes her from about 5,600' in elevation to just over 8,000' in the course of about 6 miles on a road that offers her more hairpins and switchbacks in 15 minutes than many folks will ever encounter.
Can't speak to tread wear yet, but her mix of driving isn't really representative anyway, as those same mountain roads exact a much higher toll on tread life than is experienced in city driving.
Bottom line: so far, so good on the Yokos. Oh, and they were several hundred dollars less than if we'd gone with another set of Michelins.
