I told this story here before but I can't find the thread to refer too.
When he was 15 my son decided he would make his fortune mowing lawns. He bought an old Toro 21" self propelled mower and used it for a while, then I noticed a second one in the garage. One Saturday I watched him tie them together with rope and drag them out to the street. He rode his bike down the street to get up some speed and returned, grabbing the lead mower as he went by. I was perplexed and intrigued, so I followed him. He drug both mowers to this business a few blocks away that had a huge lawn. I sat and watched as he dragged a thing that looked like a wooden wire spool out from behind the shrubs. He put it smack in the middle of the lawn and pushed one of the mower up to it. He hooked the cable that was wrapped around the spool to one of the mowers and fired it up and let it go. It went around and around the spool, mowing the grass and unwrapping itself by 20" per revolution, while he used the other mower to do the trimming. It was genius! I was so proud of him. Still am. He teaches and does research at Boston University Hospital now.
